Mercedes Cheung [Age 10] Orchestral Solo Debut Sarasate-Zigeunerweisen;Paganini:Carpice No.1[Encore]

Mercedes Cheung (Zhang) will be the world's youngest violinist [Age 10] ever to perform the most virtuosic and challenging repertoire: The entire set of 24 Paganini Caprices in her Carnegie Hall debut recital [Hurricane Effects Postponed to:December 28, 2012, Friday 8:00 PM], she is the youngest violinist [Age 10] ever to record the complete set of 24 Caprices on DVD & CD which have been released in May 2012. Mercedes has been admitted with a full scholarship to the Juilliard School of Music Pre-College [As 2010 youngest winner:Age 8]. In 2011, Mercedes was offered a full scholarship to study at the Royal Conservatory of Music "Young Artists Performance Academy" [Age 9], at the same time she was invited by world-renowed violinist, Barry Shiffman [Juror of Tchaikovsky International Violin Competition & Director of Banff Centre Summer Music Program], as a special guest soloist to perform at the Banff Centre Artists Concert in Rolston Recital Hall. She is the youngest one in the history of the Royal Conservatory of Music to pass ARCT Violin Performance Diploma Exam [Age 9]. Mercedes is the winner of the prestigious 2010 Achievement and Civic Recognition [Cultural Award], Canada, along with two other winners: Seneca College President, David Agnew [Technology Award] and Co-Founders of "Free the Children", Craig and Marc Kielburger [Community Award]. Mercedes studies with Donald Weilerstein [Faculty of Juilliard & New England Conservatoy, Dorothy Richard Starling Chair] and her father [This arrangement was recommended by Weilerstein]. she plays on a Josef Guadagnini 1775,on permanent loan to her from an anonymous benefactor. On January 12, 2013, Saturday 12:00 PM, Mercedes will give her violin solo recital at Paul Hall in Juilliard School, New York.
